Axon Dx Technology Featured in Research Poster Presented at American Association of Cancer Researcher’s Annual Meeting

EARLYSVILLE, Va.April 2, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Axon Dx is pleased to announce a poster presentation at AACR by Philip Bernard, MD, medical director, Molecular Oncology at ARUP Laboratories and a Huntsman Cancer Institute, University of Utah, and Axon Dx researcher.

The poster describes recent results from a head-to-head comparison with the FDA cleared CellSearch® platform for circulating tumor cells (CTCs) in metastatic prostate cancer.

In the study, nCyte’s CTC enumeration from twenty-six prostate cancer patients was compared to the results generated with the CellSearch system. Numbers of CTCs identified with both technologies were comparable with a trend for the nCyte system to identify a greater number of intact circulating tumor cells in samples with a smaller number of CTCs (<20).

Dr. Bernard commented that, “The nCyte Dx system showed superior image quality over the CellSearch System which could improve CTC identification and accuracy.” Dr. Bernard’s research focuses on developing biomarkers to classify, detect, and monitor cancer.

“We are very excited about this research with Dr. Bernard and ARUP Laboratories. It truly highlights the outstanding image quality of the nCyte Dx system coupled with the nCyte’s artificial intelligence, which makes fully automated rare-cell enumeration a reality.” commented Kent A. Murphy, CEO, Axon Connected LLC.

The nCyte Dx platform scans all cells in a blood sample using an advanced optical scanner and then utilizes digital pathology software to analyze the high-resolution output. The output provides morphological and targeted molecular characterization of rare cells and additionally the opportunity to identify molecular changes during treatment.
